Qalandars lose their 3rd match in a row as Lahore’s high-flying pace attack fails to deliver yet again.
Multan Sultans have extended their impressive start by defeating Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. Iftikhar Ahmed’s powerful batting in the penultimate over secured a five-wicket victory for Sultans over the defending champions.
The Qalandars’ pace attack, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, has struggled in three consecutive games, with Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan proving to be expensive. Sultans now lead the table with six points from three consecutive home wins, while Qalandars are still seeking their first win. Captain Mohammad Rizwan scored the highest this season with 82 runs off 59 balls, with Iftikhar’s explosive 34 off 11 balls sealing the victory for Sultans. Despite a strong performance by South African spinner George Linde, Sultans emerged victorious after restricting Qalandars to 166 for 5. Rassie van der Dussen and Fakhar Zaman’s partnership pushed for a high total, but Sultans’ bowlers, including Mohammad Ali, managed to limit Qalandars’ scoring opportunities.
