Kathmandu. The Deputy Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Krishna Bahadur Mahara, has been arrested. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had recommended action against him in the case of gold smuggling. Following this recommendation, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa directed the security leadership to move forward with legal action against Mahara and other accused on Sunday. Mahara was arrested from Kapilvastu on Monday. After the arrest, he will be brought to Kathmandu today.
On Sunday, the Home Minister summoned the Home Secretary, Ekanarayan Aryal, Inspector General of Police, and the Chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Shyam Lal Gyawali, to take action against all the accused involved in the gold smuggling case, including Mahara.
Earlier, a statement had been taken from Mahara, but no legal action had been taken until now. Along with Mahara, his son Rahul Mahara’s name has also been linked to the case.

सो सिफारिसपछि गृहमन्त्री रामबहादुर थापाले आइतबार महरासहित अन्य अभियुक्तलाई कानुनी कारबाही अगाडि बढाउन सुरक्षा नेतृत्वलाई निर्देशन दिएका थिए । महरालाई सोमबार कपिलवस्तुबाट पक्राउ गरिएको हो ।
पक्राउपछि उनलाई आजै काठमाडौं ल्याइने छ । गृहमन्त्रीले आइतबार गृहसचिव एकनारायण अर्याल, प्रहरी महानिरीक्षक र केन्द्रीय अनुसन्धान ब्यूरो (सिआइबी)का प्रमुख श्यामलाल ज्ञवालीलाई सुन तस्करी प्रकरणमा संलग्न सबैलाई कारबाही गर्न बोलाएका हुन् ।
महरा। यसअघि महराबाट बयान लिइए पनि अहिलेसम्म कानुनी कारबाही भएको छैन । महरासँगै उनका छोरा राहुल महराको नाम पनि मुद्दामा जोडिएको छ ।
